Hi! In this video we are going to tell you how to play Shanghai Rummy

Shanghai is a rummy type game with specific entry melds for two to four players. It requires two decks of standard playing cards, including Jokers, and is suitable for ages 12 and up.
In Shanghai, Aces are either high or low depending on what the player wants it to be and the objective is to be the first player to go out and to have the fewest points.

  1. Has this happened to anyone else? We had three players, playing one of the hands that require more that 11 cards to go out. My right-hand opponent drew from the discard pile, (not the stockpile) at EVERY turn. As a result, I never had an opportunity to "buy" my left-hand opponent's discard. Thus, I never had any chance of getting more that 11 cards in my hand, regardless of the cards turning up. Is this even legal?

  2. I wish these instructions were better,,,less all the effects, way too confusing

  3. How are you meant to do 3 runs of 4, 1 set of 3 and 1 run of 10, 3 sets of 3 and 1 run of 5, or 3 runs of 5, when you only have 11 cards in your hand?

Or, are you meant to not discard at the end your turn? If so, what's the point of the discard pile?
