RULES:

The objective of this 2-player card game is to be the first player to get rid of all of your cards. Pick a dealer who shuffles a standard 52 card deck of playing cards and then deals out all the cards to the players, one at a time. Each player takes their cards and deals them out into 5 stock piles with the first stock pike containing 1 card, the 2nd stock pile containing 2 cards, the 3rd three, the 4th four, and the 5th five. Flip over the top card of each stock pile face up. Each player places their remaining cards face down next to them to form their spit cards, which they may not look at. Once both players are ready, they each say “spit” and simultaneously flip the top card of their spit cards, face up to the center of the table between them, forming 2 separate spit piles.

There are no turns, all play happens simultaneously. Using only one hand, and moving only one card at a time, you can play your face up cards from the top of your stock piles onto either spit pile. To do so, the card’s rank must be either 1 higher or 1 lower than the top visible card. Suite and color do not matter. An ace is higher than a king and lower than a 2, so either a king or 2 may be played on an ace. When a stock pile’s top card is face-down, flip that card face up. If you have an empty stock pile, you may move any face up card into that empty space. You can never have more than five stock piles.

Once you completely place a card in a move, you may not undo that play and you must play if possible. If no player can make a play, then both players say “spit” and simultaneously flip 1 card from their spit cards face up onto their originally played spit pile and play continues. Once one player has played all their stock cards, they slap either spit pile with their hand and the round ends. That slapping player collects the cards they slapped, regardless of how few cards there might be, and add them to their spit cards while their opponent adds the other spit pile and their remaining stock piles to their spit cards.

Both players shuffle their cards and deal out another round the same as before. Once one player has fewer than 15 cards, that player will not be able to deal a complete set of stock piles. In this case, that player deals the cards into five stock piles as far as they will go, and turns over the top card of each. However, that player can no longer spit, so there will only be one spit pile, started by the other player. Then, when that single spit pile is slapped, the other player will collect those cards. The first player to completely run out of cards is the winner.

Don’t you play with jokers?

I’ve gotten stuck there’s no more cards for either to turn when we ‘spit’ but we both have cards left and cannot go what do we do

It's basically Speed, but with a more Solitaire-like layout

Hope this doesn't involve actual spitting.

Haven't played this game in about 30 years and your explanation was perfect. Thanks.

there is a very excellent explanation, you can rewind and watch it again when you don't understand

🤓

Speed Card Game is much better

What happens if you run out of spit cards during play with 2 middle piles??? Any help would be great!

Thanks

I remember playing this as a kid and wanted to teach my kids, but forgot a few steps. This was perfect, thank you.

what happens if both players are stuck, but only one player has cards left in their spit cards?

great video!

I remember playing this in middle school in the 80's. Glad to see it's still around

I played this a lot when I was younger and miss these days … when we played someone can slap the empty pile at the end; if the other person wasn't quick or paying attention. It goes on or you start the next fight among your siblings 😜

Anyone where cause of Colleen?

This is a very professional, organised, and neat way to explain a game thank you 🥰

Its all coming back to me. Totally forgot how to play this game

What happens if there are two spit piles but one person runs out of spit cards during play?

Card games are just too complicated to be fun 😆

Huh…when I learned this game in middle school we were one letter off on the name.

who thinks the name is disrespectful

Mister Rogers (paraphrasing prank call sound board): You know I thought this game involved spitting on people 🙁 I don't like to see people spreading germs but that's NOT how this game is played! 😀

This is so professionally done. You deserve way more views.

Thanks so much for this!

THANKS I WILL PLAY THIS WITH MY FAMILY NOW 😀

I learned this game a little bit differently

Which one is the 4 stack game?

You did such a great job explaining the game it's exactly how I played it👏🏾‼️

Don't both players always have the option to slap when one player is out of cards and the quickest one gets the small pile?

Ratuki should be next

What if the spit pile is finished of one person during a round

Thanks!

And if 2 players are playing and 1 player doesn't have a spit pile and there is 2 discard piles, the player with a spit pile flips a card and then, flipping cards on that pile only until the game is over. You may play on both discard piles.

we call this game “speed”, but its just set up differently

I learned how to play this back in high school, such a great game

Thanks boss

Great video

Wards

Crushing my wife in this right now 😁

Reminds me of great memories
